Private George Cromarty

Private George Douglas Cromarty, 2nd/4th East Lancashire Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 21st March 1918, aged 19, on the first day of the German Spring Offensive ( Operation Michael ). He was the son of Thomas and Sarah Cromarty of Front Street, Holy Island, Beal and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France. ( The Memorial shows his Unit as the Northumberland Fusiliers so it may be he was transferred from that Regiment ).
