Private Francis Young

Private Francis Brown Young, 2nd Battalion, Black Watch. He was killed in France, aged 32, on the 2nd August 1915 and is buried in Royal Irish Rifles Graveyard, Laventie, France. he had been born in Heriot and was the son of Agnes and the late John Young of Stow. Before enlisting he had been employed as a rope splicer at the Lady Victoria Pit, Newtongrange and lived with his brother John at Dykeneuk. He joined his Battalion in France in June 1915.
