Private John Davidson

Private John Davidson, Durham Light Infantry attd. H.Q. 151st Infantry Brigade. He died of wounds in France on 6th June 1940, aged 21 and is buried in Dunkirk Town Cemetery.  He was the son of Mr and Mrs John Davidson of Kames East Mains, Gordon. As the Dunkirk evacuation had been completed by the 4th June it is probable he died whilst a prisoner of the Germans having been previously wounded during the retreat to Dunkirk. He had enlisted in the K.O.S.B. in July 1939 but had been transferred to the D.L.I.  going to France in January 1940.
