Lance Corporal Thomas Henderson

Lance Corporal Thomas Henderson, 1st Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He was killed in action in France on 18th September 1918 aged 25 during the ” Advance to Victory”. He was the son of Jessie and the stepson of George Inglis of Abbots Meadow, Gattonside, Melrose and was the husband of Janet Henderson of Stirling Place, Galashiels. He is buried in Bellicourt British Cemetery, Aisne, France. He had been employed as a butcher in Galashiels before enlisting in the Army Service Corps. From there he had been transferred into the Cameron Highlanders. His Headstone is inscribed ” Asleep Until The Day Breaks And The Shadows Flee Away “.
