Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant Hugh Fraser

Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant Hugh Fraser, 4th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died on Service at Home , aged 48, on the 30th March 1915 and is buried in Eastlands Cemetery, Galashiels. He had been born in Ontario, Canada and was the son of the late Simon and Winforth Fraser of Stirling and the husband of Isabella Fraser of 40 Glendinning Terrace, Galashiels. He had been involved with the Volunteers and Territorials for many years and was mobilised in August 1914. He was appointed Q.M.S. for the Depot in Galashiels and played a leading part in raising the Reserve Battalion. He had been a Lieutenant in the Gala Boys Brigade and was also a Parish Councillor.
