Private William Bisset Donaldson, 1st/4th (Border) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died from wounds suffered at Gallipoli, aged 19, on the 17h July 1915 during the “Charge” on the Turkish trenches at Achi Baba Nullah on the 12th July. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of Peter and Isabella Donaldson of 14 Union Street, Galashiels. He is buried in Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War memorial, Alexandria, Egypt. He had been employed in the Rosebank Mill in Galashiels and was a Member of the Territorial K.O.S.B. He was mobilised with the Battalion as part of the Signals Section and landed on Gallipoli in June 1915 as part of the 52nd (Lowland) Division.
