Private Thomas Ferguson, 1st Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.. He died from wounds in the 2nd Casualty Clearing Station at Bailleul in France, aged 24, on the 1th May 1915 and is buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of the late William and Agnes Ferguson formerly of Johnstone’s Close, Galashiels. He had enlisted as a Regular soldier in 1910 and served in Malta and India. The Battalion went to France in December 1914.
