Private Robert Easton Gray, 6th (Service) Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He died from wounds in France, aged 25, on the 12th April 1917 during the Battle of Arras. He had been born in Hawick and was the son of John and the late Margaret Gray of 6 St. John Street, Galashiels and the husband of Jessie Gray of Locharbriggs, Dumfries. He had returned from Canada to enlist and was wounded on the Somme in 1916. He died in the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade Hospital at Etaples and is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
