Private Frank Donaldson

Private Frank McLean Donaldson, H.M.S. “Glory”, Royal Marine Light Infantry. He died on Active service, aged 25, on the 18th August 1918 and is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial, Kent. He had been born in Galashiels and was the adopted son and nephew of Alexander and Joyce Donaldson of 32 High Buckholmside, Galashiels. He had enlisted as a regular in January 1913 and was serving on the pre Dreadnought Battleship H.M.S. “Glory” at Archangel in northern Russia when he was killed in an accident.
