Private Colin Henderson

Private Colin Baxter Henderson, 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. he was killed in action in Belgium, aged 39, on the 24th May 1915 during the Second Battle of Ypres. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of Martha and the late Henry Henderson of Queen Street, Galashiels. He had enlisted as a Regular soldier in 1894 and had served with the 2nd Battalion during the second Anglo Boer War in South Africa. In 1902 he was transferred to the Army Reserve and rejoined the Battalion in Belgium in November 1914. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium.
