Lance Corporal Archibald Pettigrew Irving, Mechanical Transport Company, Canadian Army Service Corps. He died on Service in France, aged 23, on the 25th December 1918. he had been born in Galashiels and was the son of James and Isabella Irving of 197 Humberside Avenue, Toronto. The family had emigrated to Canada from Galashiels in 1911 and he was working as a clerk in Toronto when he enlisted in July 1915. He was transferred into the M.T.C, in October 1918 but died from pneumonia in the 14th General Hospital in Wimereux. ( At that time the “Spanish Flu” epidemic was sweeping the world). He is buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimereux, France.
