Private Andrew Elder, 1st Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action in Mesopotamia, aged 26, on the 11th January 1917 and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of Robert and Margaret Elder of Galashiels.
