Lance Corporal Thomas Henderson

Lance Corporal Thomas Archibald Henderson, 1st Battalion, Cameron Highlanders. He was killed in action in France, aged 25, on the 18th September 1918 during the “Advance to Victory”. He was born in Melrose and was the husband of Janet Henderson of 6 Stirling Place, Galashiels. He had worked as a butcher in Galashiels and had originally enlisted in the Army Service Corps before being transferred to the Camerons in France. He is buried in Bellicourt British Cemetery, Aisne, France where his Headstone is inscribed ” Asleep Until The day Breaks And The Shadows Flee Away”. the photos show Allied troops advancing after the retreating German Army during the final 100 days of the War.
