Private Thomas Cass

Private Thomas Cass, 2nd Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died from wounds in France, aged 29, on the 22nd January 1915 and is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, France. he had been born in Galashiels and was the son of Thomas and Susanna Cass of Galashiels and the husband of Jane Cass. He had enlisted in August 1914 and posted to the 2nd Battalion in December 1914. He died in the 13th General Hospital in Boulogne. At the time of his wounding the Battalion was in the Neuve Eglise sector and over 13 days in December suffered 250casualties. The photos show British troops in late December 1914.
