Private David Bain, 7th (Service) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died on Service, aged 36, on the 17th December 1916. He had been born in Galashiels and was the son of the late William and Jane Bain formerly of 9 Green Street, Galashiels and husband of Janet Bain of 9 Wardlaw Place, Edinburgh. He had joined his Battalion in France in October 1915 but became ill and was evacuated to the Dykebar War Hospital, Paisley where he died. He is buried in Eastlands Cemetery, Galashiels.
