Lance Corporal George William Cairns, 2nd Battalion Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He had been born in Glasgow and was the son of William and the late Margaret Cairns of Caledonia Road, Glasgow. His connection to Galashiels is unknown at this time. He had been a regular Soldier and had been captured at the Battle of Le Cateau in August 1914. He was repatriated in November 1918 and Discharged from the Army in June 1919. No further details are available.
