Corporal James Divers

Corporal James Divers, 116th Company, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). He was killed in action in Belgium. aged 27, on the 28th February 1917 and is buried in Railway Dugouts (Transport Farm) Burial Ground, Flanders, Belgium. He had been born in Arngask, Perthshire and was the son of Patrick and Annie Divers of 34 Overhaugh Street, Galashiels. He had originally enlisted in the Cameronians in Galashiels in October 1915 but in France was posted to the M.G. C. who used the Vickers Mk.11 water cooled gun in both defensive and offensive roles. His Headstone is inscribed ” Requiescat In Pace”.
