Private John Coutts, 9th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. He died as a Prisoner of War of the Japanese on 22nd September 1943, aged 25. He had been captured at the fall of Singapore in February 1942 with most of his Battalion and forced to work on the Burma-Siam Railway. He was the son of John and Annie Coutts of Ford and is buried in Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery, Burma where his Headstone is inscribed ” Father In Thy Gracious Keeping, We Leave Our Dear One Sleeping . R.I.P. “.
