Sergeant David Michie Straiton, 1st Derbyshire Yeomanry, Royal Armoured Corps. He was killed in action in Italy on 16th May 1944 during the fighting for Monte Cassino, aged 37. He was the son of David and Christina Campbell and the husband of Lilian Winifred Campbell of Melton Mowbray and is buried in Cassino War Cemetery, Cassino, Italy. The Yeomanry were equipped with the Sherman tank.
