Flight Sergeant William Andrew, Pilot Royal New Zealand Air Force. He was killed in a flying accident flying from R.A.F. Charterhall on 27th July 1943 aged 21. He was the son of William and Christina May Andrew of Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand and is buried in Fogo Churchyard. ( His name is not on the Fogo War Memorial ). Andrew was piloting Bristol Beaufighter T3419 when the aircraft swung on take off, hit a hanger then collided with a Bristol Beaufort which was being taxied. The Beaufort pilot was uninjured.
