Private Thomas Adam Young, 18th ( Service ) Battalion ( 4th Glasgow ), Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action in France near Guillemont on the Somme on 19th August 1917 aged 21. He was the son of Thomas and Janet Young of Lower Chatto, Kelso and Synton Parkhead, Hawick and he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, Somme, France. He is also commemorated on the Oxnam Memorial along with his brother Robert Young of 2nd Battalion, K.O.S.B who fell on 21st October 1918.
