Lieutenant Ronald Tulloch

Lieutenant Ronald Smith Tulloch, Royal Engineers, attached 5 Field Coy. West African Engineers, Royal West African Frontier Force. He was posted missing in action in Burma on 25th January 1944, aged 23. He had been born in Duns and was the son of Laurence and Bessie Tulloch of the Schoolhouse, Leitholm, Eccles and North Berwick and is commemorated on the Rangoon Memorial, Burma.  He had been educated at Daniel Stewart’s College, Edinburgh  where he was a member of the O.T.C. Here he had won the William Robertson prize for shooting 1936-1939.   He then studied engineering at Edinburgh University and was commissioned into the Royal Engineers from the University O.T.C. in July 1941. In early 1943 he was posted to West Africa and then India before taking part in the Burma campaign. He is also commemorated on the Leitholm War Memorial.
