Gunner Robert Elliot

Gunner Robert Elliot, “A” Battery ,51st Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. He was killed in action in France on 6th June 1917, aged 19. He had been born in Coldstream and was the son of William and I. M. Elliot of 94 High Street, Coldstream and Birgham, Eccles and is buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension, France where his Headstone is inscribed ” He Is Risen”. His father ran a chemist shop in Coldstream. He is also commemorated on the Coldstream War Memorial. The standard Field Artillery piece was the 18 pounder field gun which was normally used in wire cutting and anti infantry work using both high explosive and shrapnel shells). His Headstone is inscribed ” He Is Risen “. The photographs show Batteries in action.
