Lance Corporal Thomas Bryson

Lance Corporal Thomas John William Bryson, The Border Regiment ( 1st Airborne Battalion ). He was killed in action in Holland on 21st September 1944 during Operation ” Market Garden “, aged 28. He was the son of George and Isobel Bryson and the husband of Gwendoline Bryson of North Kensington, London. He is buried in Arnhem oosterbeek War Cemetery, Oosterbeek, Arnhem, Holland. The Regiment landed by glider and was tasked with defending the Oosterbeek perimeter. 788 men were landed. 121 men were killed, 432 were missing ( prisoners ) and 235 made it back across the Rhine. After suffering such heavy casualties the Battalion saw no further action during the War. The photos show troops during the Battle.
