Fusilier Alan Burnett

Fusilier Alan Burnett, 9th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. He died of cholera in Tonchan Central Camp Thailand on 19th July 1943, aged 29, whilst a Prisoner of War of the Japanese. He was the son of Moses and Ellen Burnett of Berwick-upon-Tweed and is buried in Kanchananburi War Cemetery, Thailand where his Headstone is inscribed ” Until We Meet Again”. Many members of his Battalion had fallen into Japanese hands at the fall of Singapore on 15th February 1942.
