Private James Archibald

Private James Scott Archibald, 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died at Cambusbarron of acute Pneumonia on 14th February 1915 aged 19. He was the son of James and Robina Archibald of High Street, Earlston and is buried in Earlston Parish Churchyard. Before the war he had helped his father with his bread van rounds. At that time the Battalion was stationed at Cambusbarron  in readiness for the Gallipoli campaign which began on the 25th April 1915.
