Sergeant Observer John Oliver

Sergeant Observer John McKelvie Dunn Oliver, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was lost on Operations over Occupied Europe on 25th June 1942, aged 21. He was the son of James and Hannah Oliver of Duns and is buried in Harlingen General Cemetery, Holland. His Headstone is inscribed ” In Loving Remembrance Of Our Dear Son. Till we Meet Again, Mum, Dad and Bobby “. He had been educated at the Berwickshire High School and was a noted sportsman and a talented musician. He was an electrician to trade and operated the projector in the Regal Cinema in Duns. He was lost with his Vickers Wellington bomber whilst with 15 Operational Training Unit in support of a raid on Bremen, the aircraft crashing off the Dutch coast.
