Sergeant Harry Learmouth, 1st Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action at Gallipolli, on 22nd August 1915 and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey. He was born in Hawick and had enlisted there as a Regular soldier. He fell in the action around Scimitar Hill at Suvla Bay where the Battalion, although not part of the main attack, suffered casualties of 1 Officer and 25 Other Ranks. 1st K.O.S.B. was part of the 29th Division which was a Regular Army formation.
