Private Alexander Brown, ( possibly )1st Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died in France on 30th January 1917. At this time the Battalion were out of the line resting. He is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France. He was the son of James and Margaret Brown of Lennel and had been born in Selkirk.
