Lance Corporal Archibald Anderson

Lance Corporal Archibald Anderson, Army Service Corps attd. 73rd Anti-Aircraft Section. He died on active service on 3rd December 1917 during the Salonica Campaign aged 37. He was the Father of Miss Agnes Stewart Anderson of Lennel Newtown, Coldstream and is buried in Mikra War Cemetery, Kalamaria, Greece. Before enlisting he had been employed as a chauffeur by Major Waring of Lennel House Coldstream. Because he drove the Major’s car and delighted in blowing the horn he was nicknamed “Toot”. The picture shows the standard truck mounted quick firing anti-aircraft gun. ( He is not listed on the Coldstream War Memorial but because of his local connections we felt he should be listed here).
