Private William Irvine

Private William Irvine, 10th ( Service ) Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was killed in action on 16th April 1917 during the Battle of Arras, aged 27. He had been born in Renfrew and was the son of Mrs J. Campbell ( ex Irvine ) and is buried in Point-du-Jour Military Cemetery, Athies, Pas De Calais, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Sleep On Dear Willie And Take Thy Rest They Miss You Most Who Loved You Best “. The photos show troops during the Battle.
