Sergeant/Air Gunner Edward Hall, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died on Service, aged 32, on the 29th March 1943. He had been born in Chirnside and was the son of Elizabeth and the late William Hall of Chirnside. He is buried in Edinburgh Eastern Cemetery where his Headstone is inscribed ” Greater Love Hath No Man Than This, That A Man Lay Down His Life For His Friend”. He had been a crewman aboard a Blackburn Botha of 4 Air Gunnery School at R.A.F. Morpeth when it collided with another aircraft and crashed.
