Lance Corporal William Orr, 2nd Battalion, Scots Guards. He was killed in action in France, aged 21, on the 28th March 1918 during the German Spring Offensives. He had been born in Stair, Ayrshire and was the son of Robert and Margaret Orr of Caddonlee Farm , Clovenfords, Caddonfoot. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, France. On that date the Battalion were in trenches near the Arras-Amiens railway and suffered losses in an enemy bombardment with 12 Other Ranks killed. The photos show Allied troops in defensive positions
