Private Thomas Gresson, 2nd/5th ( Reserve ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died on Service at the family home at Yair Farm, Caddonfoot, aged 22, on the 12th February 1916. He had been born in Stow and was the son of Isabella Gresson and the grandson of William and the late Jessie Gresson of Yair Farm, Caddonfoot and Haltree farm, Heriot. He had enlisted in Melrose and is buried in Caddonfoot Parish Churchyard. (The photo of the Headstone is courtesy of James Affleck ).
