Lance Corporal Andrew Colvine, 1st Battalion, London Scottish, Gordon Highlanders. He was killed in action in Italy, aged 22, on the 5th September 1944. He had been born in Caddonfoot and was the son of the late Margaret Colvine of Fairnilee and William Colvine of Scrogbank, Walkerburn. He fell during the battle for the village of Gemmano near Rimini and is buried in Gradara War Cemetery, Pesaro, Italy. Before the War he had been employed at Fairnilee, Caddonfoot and was a Territorial in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers based in Galashiels. He was mobilised in September 1939 and served in a number of Units before joining the London Scottish in early 1944.
