Private James Bell

Private James Bell, 7th ( Service ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died from wounds in France, aged 48, on 7th March 1916. He died in the 2nd Stationary Hospital, Abbeyvilee and was buried in Abbeyville Communal Cemetery, Somme, France. He had been born in Lilliesleaf in 1867 and was the son of the late Alexander and Jane Bell of Bedrule, Roxburghshire. His Headstone is inscribed ” Thy Purpose Lord We Cannot See But All Is Well That’s Done By Thee”.
