W. Lyon, Royal Naval Division. This Division was formed at the outbreak of the War from Royal Naval and Royal Marine reservists who were not needed for sea service and fought at Antwerp in 1914 and Gallipoli in 1915. In 1916 it was transferred to the British Army as the 63rd ( Royal Naval ) Division and fought on the Western Front until the Armistice in November 1918. ( Members of the Division kept their naval ranks ).
