Second Lieutenant Robert Turnbull M.C.

Second Lieutenant Robert Turnbull M.C., 13th ( Service ) Battalion, Rifle Brigade ( The Prince Consort’s Own ). He was killed in action in France on 25th August 1918, aged 29 during the ” Advance to Victory “. He was the son of the late Michael  ( Master Mariner )and Christine Turnbull of Berwick and is buried in Achiet-Le- Grand Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France. He had been commissioned in the field for his gallantry having won the Military Cross whilst Regimental Sergeant Major in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. His Headstone is inscribed ” Thy Will Be Done”. The photos show the Allies advancing during the final 100 days of the War.
