Air Mechanic 1st Class R. Muir

Air Mechanic 1st Class R. Muir, Royal Flying Corps ( 14th Squadron and 302nd Brigade Royal Field Artillery ). He died in Palestine on 21st December 1917, aged 21. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Muir of 56 West Street, Berwick and is buried in Jerusalem War Cemetery, Israel. His Headstone is inscribed ” Not Forgotten”. 14 Squadron flew the R.E 8 reconaissance machine which was sometimes used to attack the retreating Turkish troops. The photo shows an R.E. 8 in the Imperial War Museum collection.
