Private Michael Robson Black, 24th Battalion, Australian Infantry Force. He was killed in action in France on 6th July 1918 and is buried in Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery, Somme, France. He was the son of George and Catherine Black of 117 Bay Street, Brighton, Victoria, Australia and had been born in Berwick before his parents emigrated. The Australian National Memorial to the Australian troops who fell in the War was erected at Villers-Bretonneux where they had played a prominent part in finally halting the Germans offensives in France.
