Private Joseph Hunter

Private Joseph Finlayson Hunter, 14th ( Service ) Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment ( 1st Birmingham Pals).  He originally enlisted in the King’s Own Scottish Borderers and was stationed at the Berwick Depot before being posted. He died in France on 6th July 1918, aged 30. He was a cook in the Officers’ Mess and he was killed there when it was hit by a bomb dropped by an enemy aircraft. He was the husband of Mrs. Hunter, Church Street, Berwick-on-Tweed and the son of the late George Hunter of Uddingston, Glasgow. He is buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, Pas de Calais, France and his Headstone is inscribed ” He Giveth His Life”.
