Private Joseph Geddes

Private Joseph Geddes, 2nd Battalion, Black Watch. He died in hospital in Egypt on 20th October 1918, aged 37 and is buried in Cairo War Memorial Cemetery. His Headstone is inscribed ” Peace Perfect Peace With Loved Ones Far Away “. He was the eldest son of Peter and Elizabeth Geddes of Scott’s Place, Berwick and the husband of Elspeth Douglas Geddes of 52 Grange Street, Grangemouth. At  that time the Battalion was in action in Palestine  and took part in the destruction of the Turkish forces there. His brothers Robert and John also fell – see above.
