Lance Corporal John Lowe, 1st Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action in Libya on 3rd February 1941, aged 21. He was the son of John and Ellen Lowe of Tweedmouth and is buried in Halfaya Sollum War Cemetery, Egypt. His Headstone is inscribed ” Greater Love Hath No Man Than This, That A Man Lay Down His Life For His Friends”.
