Sergeant Major John Charles Geddes, M.I.D., 8th ( Service ) Battalion, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He died of wounds in Italy on 23rd September 1918, aged 31. He was the son of Peter and Elizabeth Geddes of Scots Place, Berwick and is buried in Stagliano Cemetery, Genoa, Italy. He had also been awarded the Belgian Croix De Guerre. His Headstone is inscribed ” Greater Love Hath No Man Than This”. His brothers Robert and Joseph also fell – see above.
