Private James Scott

Private James Hume Scott, 9th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He died of wounds in France on 18th April 1918, aged 38. suffered during the Battle of the Lys ( part of the German Spring Offensives ). He was the husband of Margaret Hume Scott of 58 Church Street, Berwick and is buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. Before enlisting he had been employed by Berwick corporation and was well known in Spittal where he undertook the collection of ashes. The photos show Allied troops in defensive positions.
