Private G. C. Scott, 14th ( Service ) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. He died in a Casualty Clearing Station at Ytres in France on 4th October 1917 from wounds received in action during the Battle of Third Ypres. He is buried in Rocquigny-Equancourt Road, British Cemetery, Somme, France. The photograph shows some of the atrocious conditions of the Battlefield. The heavy artillery barrages had shattered the fragile Flanders drainage systems and this had been compounded by the heavy rainfall.
