Segeant Ambrose Townsley, 9th Battalion, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. He died of dysentery at Nakhon Pathom camp in Thailand on 26th June 1944, aged 35, whilst a Prisoner of War of the Japanese. He was the son of Ambrose and Jean Townsley of Berwick and is buried in Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, Thailand. He had been taken prisoner with many of the Battalion at the fall of Singapore on 15th February 1942.
