Private Alexander Galbraith

Private Alexander Gladston Galbraith, 53rd ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He died in Germany on 19th June 1919, aged 18. He was the son of William and Elizabeth Galbraith of 14 East Street, Berwick and is buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery. The Battalion was originally designated as a young soldiers unit for training purposes and became a Service Battalion which was used as part of the Occupation Force in Germany after the Armistice. The photographs show troops of the Occupation Forces.
