Private John Goodfellow

Private John Goodfellow, 16th ( Service ) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. ( Possibly) He died of wounds in France during the Battle of Arras on 14th April 1917 aged 22. He was the son of Mrs J. Goodfellow and is buried in Nesle Communal Cemetery, Somme, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Until The Day Dawn”. From April -June 1917 No. 21 Casualty Clearing Station was situated at Nesle to look after the wounded from the Battle of Arras. The photograph shows troops and a tank in a captured village near Arras.
