Private Robert Young

Private Robert James Young, “B” Coy., 2nd Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action in France, aged 20, on the 21st October 1918 during the ” Advance to Victory”. He had been born in Gullane, East Lothian and was the fifth son of Thomas and Janet Young of Nether Tofts, Hawick and is buried in Grevillers British Cemetery, Somme, Pas de Calais, France where his Headstone is inscribed ” Come Unto Me And Rest”. The Battalion had taken part in its last engagement of the War on the 20th October in an attack beyond the River Selle towards Beaurain where they lost 6 killed and 49 wounded.
